UNALLOYED BHAKTI.

There is no doubt about the truth that the Lord is every jivatma's prized possession. Not every jivatma realises this truth when one is involved in worldly concerns. To hold on to this possession should be the aim of every jivatma and this is possible only by traversing through the many stages of relaisation. All the subtle aspects of this quest are revealed in the Gopis' yearning for Krishna.
The Gopis step into the first stage of relaisation when their hearts are filled with love and devotion for Krishna. When the mellifluous music from His flute draws them to His presence, they are filled with the sense of bliss and they hold on to Krishna with great fervour. The Lord makes each one of them feel exclusive by His attention and this exhilerating experience evokes a sense of pride in them. Each one thinks this is attained by individual merit. So the Lord disappears from their midst. Only when the ego is shed and they understand that the unalloyed bhakti overflowing in their hearts is by His sheer grace alone that they become truly realised.
Like the seers engaged in meditation of the Supreme Truth, the Gopis delight in the thought of Krishna at all times. A jivatma's experience of the Divine is beyond the ken of theoretical explanations and arguments which hardly even give a glimpse of the tip of the iceberg. The jivatma has to get to the depths of the Truth, get totally immersed in this quest and forget individual particularities that are sustained by ahamkara or the ego sense. Andal's life and works reach out to the philosophical depths in the Rasa Lila episode and show how the path shown by the Gopis is the most efficacious for salvation.
